This NHCAA Practitioner blog is part 7 in a series of 8 that make up Chapter 1 of my eBook called “Healthcare The Way Mother Nature Intended!”.
Who we are and WHY we do what we do.
I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and the other holistic health practitioners at the Nutritional Healing Center of Ann Arbor.
I started studying nutrition in 1993 with the goal of getting people well quickly and inexpensively. I became a Doctor of Chiropractor who focuses on nutrition in 1997. Ever since then, I’ve been good at identifying the leaders in the nutrition field, learning from them, and then applying that to my patients. I can innovate and combine information from the past to the present knowledge. I also like to teach doctors and patients in a way that is understandable.
I am always looking for results- nothing matters more than the result of achieving wellness. Over these years, I have treated tens of thousands of patients but as an office, we have treated hundreds of thousands of patients. We all have thousands of testimonials showing fantastic, life-changing outcomes. Every week without fail, at our staff meeting, we share new success stories of patients whose lives have been improved. The patients that find us are accustomed to years of unnecessary suffering which is a shame because it doesn’t have to be that way. Once they complete their health improvement plan and move onto maintenance, their life is transformed.

Let me introduce you to the other practitioners in the office…
Kerry Cradit, BS Nutrition & Food Science
Kerry Cradit, BS Nutrition & Food Science – graduated from Madonna University in Michigan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Science. She worked at The University of Michigan Health System as a Dietitian Assistant and then transitioned into a more holistic approach to nutrition. She is also a Certified Pilates Instructor.
Kerry initially came to the office as a patient. And, after quickly seeing results for herself she started working at The Nutritional Healing Center of Ann Arbor in 2007. She began working for Dr. Schmidt as his Clinical Assistant. And, in 2011 after completing more training, Kerry started seeing her own patients.
Kerry loves to work with moms and kids to get future generations interested in real health and enlighten them about nutrition as a solution. And, she views all patients as a unique puzzle that needs to be solved and loves being the person to put it together.
Kristen Clore, Occupational Therapist
Kristen Clore, OTRL – is an occupational therapist currently earning her Ph.D. in Integrative Medicine and quantum physics. Because of her diverse education and clinical training across the lifespan, she enjoys seeing patients of all ages and all conditions, including genetic, and chronic or acute conditions of all types. She especially enjoys working with those individuals who haven’t had success in routine treatment approaches, or want an opportunity for better outcomes than what is traditionally projected.
She experienced her own health devastation in her childhood and young adult years when leaning on western medicine and the Standard American Diet to solve her health problems. Her primary goal is to help as many people possible to break free from the current unhealthy trends sold to us by the media and society. These trends lead to the unnecessary acceptance of medication to suppress or artificially energize our body and ultimately lead to a diminished lifestyle, diminished function, and diminished independence.
Her personal health transformation is the reason she pursued natural, non-pharmacological interventions to approach health and well-being and wants to help others to transform their lives as well.

Amanda Childress, Doctor of Pharmacy
Dr. Amanda Childress is a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) but left behind her pharmacy career in pursuit of natural methods that heal the body as opposed to maintaining a state of disease as most pharmaceuticals do. Since 2010, Dr. Amanda has cultivated her new profession of Holistic Pharmacy by combining her extensive knowledge of nutrition, herbs and natural supplements with her expertise in biochemistry and pharmacology. Dr. Amanda’s specialized knowledge allows her to help individuals heal from, and in many cases, safely wean off of pharmaceuticals. Dr. Amanda works with a diverse array of health conditions ranging from mild to severe; however, her special areas of interest are ADHD and other focus issues, women’s hormonal health imbalances such as PCOS and Hashimoto’s, gut health and migraine headaches.
Taggy Bensaid, Naturopathic Doctor
Dr. Taggy Bensaid, ND is a traditional naturopathic doctor and a perinatal educator. She is originally from Morocco and her first trip to the US was as a young teenager who came here on a mission with Operation Smile to help kids her age and younger to get their smile back. She fell in love with helping people at a very young age and studied pre-med with internships at NYU, Mt Sinai Hospital, and Casablanca Public Hospital. Her personal positive results with hormone imbalance, high-risk pregnancy, and her previous work with children, grew her interest in perinatal, female hormones, and kid’s health and finding real solutions. She helps her patients get to the root cause of their symptoms by listening and supporting their body, not by fighting against it. She teaches her patients to trust their body’s amazing ability to heal while she guides them through the journey.
As an office, we are not hindered by corporate barriers, insurances, nor professional peer pressure. We are more concerned about helping you than we are about “not looking weird”.
The only thing that matters is you getting well. I will always win that argument.
