I seem to have been born with an inherent dislike of medications: One case in point is that as a child, I had surgery on my foot that involved cutting substantially through my Achilles tendon. My surgeon prescribed me codeine for the pain. Although the site of the surgery was exceptionally painful, I refused to take it, as I did not agree with such drugging if it could be avoided. As a result, I found that my pain reduction and healing were fast.
I grew up with horses and bicycling and have had at least four concussions from these sports, including an incident of prolonged unconsciousness, and a fractured skull verified by x-ray. I have fully recovered from these injuries naturally.
I decided by the age of 15 that I would be a Chiropractor, falling across it by chance when I was with my mother on one of her chiropractic visits. The nice chiro took the time to explain how it worked and it made complete sense and I loved that it was natural.
Through my first chiropractor, I discovered Applied Kinesiology, as his wife was a practitioner of it. I fell in love with AK and started learning while at Palmer College of Chiropractic, taking well over 200 hours of seminars beyond my required courses. I hold AK is built-in biofeedback and the language of the body to indicate what is wrong with it. In addition to helping my clients, I use AK on a day-to-day basis for myself, my family and my pets.
I explicitly trust my body to heal itself. I had a severe knee injury years ago, tearing my meniscus. I could not bend or straighten my knee fully for at least a year. My body healed itself without surgery and now I have a healthy, intact knee. I gave birth to my four children at home 100% naturally, even delivering one of my children without assistance in a water birth.
